The Hertfordshire Heritage Fund was launched in 1988 as a charitable trust. The purpose is to assist museums in the county to purchase items relating to Hertfordshire's past and make them available to the public. Since 1988 over 60 grants have been made. These include:
Hertford Museum - 'The Bull Inn' by Thomas Rowlandson; Hoards of Roman Coins
Ware Museum- Ware Bank £1.00 note issued 1819; 'The Diverting History of John Gilpin' by William Cowper
Hertfordshire Archives & Local Studies - The Panshanger Estate Manuscripts; Lytton letters and more recently support for the Delme Radcliffe Archive Appeal
